At this time\u00c2\u00a0Fr Charles Tochetti\u00c2\u00a0was sent to this area where he began fund-raising for a church building in Inveruerie. The church was completed in\u00c2\u00a01852.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Dedication:<\/strong><br \/>\nThe church is dedicated to Mary, the mother of Jesus, frequently called Our Lady in the Roman Catholic tradition, under the title of The Immaculate Conception. This title refers to the Roman Catholic teaching that Mary, from the very beginning of her existence (i.e. her conception), was kept free from all kinds of sinfulness.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0A solemn pronouncement of this teaching was made by the Pope in 1854 (This event\u00c2\u00a0 may have influenced the choice of the dedication of our church as this solemn pronouncement took place just two years after this church was completed.)<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-125\" src=\"https:\/\/inverurie.rcda.scot\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/P1021081-HDR-Edit.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"831\" height=\"400\" srcset=\"https:\/\/inverurie.rcda.scot\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/P1021081-HDR-Edit.jpg 831w, https:\/\/inverurie.rcda.scot\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/P1021081-HDR-Edit-300x144.jpg 300w, https:\/\/inverurie.rcda.scot\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/P1021081-HDR-Edit-768x370.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 831px) 100vw, 831px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Details:<\/strong><br \/>\nThe\u00c2\u00a0circular window\u00c2\u00a0in the sanctuary area consists of thick glass pieces with rough-hewn surfaces set in a heavy (here, concrete) matrix. It shows\u00c2\u00a0a dove-shape, representing the Holy Spirit, and around the circumference are the Latin words\u00c2\u00a0+\u00c2\u00a0LARGIRE\u00c2\u00a0+ DONA + SPIRITUS\u00c2\u00a0meaning\u00c2\u00a0BE GENEROUS WITH THE GIFTS OF THE SPIRIT.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-159\" src=\"https:\/\/inverurie.rcda.scot\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/inv.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"512\" height=\"512\" srcset=\"https:\/\/inverurie.rcda.scot\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/inv.png 512w, https:\/\/inverurie.rcda.scot\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/inv-300x300.png 300w, https:\/\/inverurie.rcda.scot\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/inv-150x150.png 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 512px) 100vw, 512px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Our crucifix combines a number of aspects usually kept separate: Christ is shown on the cross, but he is not shown as suffering but as glorified. He is shown as King (crowned) and as Priest (in the vestments worn by a Roman Catholic priest celebrating Mass).
